Charlie Neal Interview Part 1

HBCU Network's dedication is to bring you quality features for and about the HBCU experience to the underserved masses.  We had the pleasure of having a conversation with Charlie Neal, who joined ESPN in 2005, primarily serving as play-by-play announcer for Historically Black College/University football and basketball (HBCU) telecasts on ESPNU. Neal started his broadcasting career over 30 years ago as a radio disc jockey before turning to television as a sportscaster working for several affiliates in the Detroit, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. markets. He has also worked for BET, MBC (now the Black Family Channel) and TNT.  He had a particular fondness and insight for the HBCUs and here is part one of that conversation.
